A prominent Kano elder, Alhaji Musa Iliyasu Kwankwaso Kurawa, has accused former Kano State governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of inconsistency and double standards in the ongoing dispute surrounding the Kano Emirate. Kurawa alleged that Ganduje’s actions regarding the emirship controversy contradict his earlier decisions while serving as governor, particularly concerning the recognition of Muhammadu Sanusi II. Speaking amid renewed tensions over traditional leadership in Kano, Kurawa argued that Ganduje had previously recognised Sanusi II as Emir of Kano but later adopted positions that appeared to undermine that recognition. He further cited what he described as conflicting conduct by the former governor over a village head coronation request, which he said exposed inconsistencies in Ganduje’s handling of traditional institution matters.
