FBI Offers ₦6.7m Reward For Information On Wanted Nigerian Woman Over Fraud Conviction
FBI Offers ₦6.7m Reward for Information on Wanted Nigerian Woman Over Fraud Conviction The United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has announced a $5,000 (approximately ₦6.7 million) reward for information leading to the arrest of a Nigerian woman, Emuobosan Emanuella Hall, who allegedly failed to report to prison to begin serving an eight-year sentence for money laundering and fraud. The 46-year-old woman was convicted of conspiracy to commit money laundering and conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud in connection with an international romance scam that defrauded multiple victims. According to the FBI, Hall was originally charged in April 2024 over her alleged involvement in laundering money obtained from victims through fraudulent online relationships. Hall and her co-defendant, Kenneth G. Akpieyi, were linked to a romance fraud operation that targeted victims, including older women, by exploiting online relationships. Fraudsters allegedly posed as military officers, philanthropists and entrepreneurs living abroad to establish relationships with victims before persuading them to transfer money. Hall reportedly helped receive and transfer funds obtained through the scheme using financial accounts and business arrangements. She subsequently pleaded guilty to the offences and was sentenced in January 2026 to 96 months, equivalent to eight years, in federal prison. Despite being ordered to report to a designated correctional facility in March 2026, Hall failed to surrender to authorities to begin serving her sentence. The FBI said a federal arrest warrant was issued on March 31, 2026, by the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana in New Orleans following the violation of her bond conditions. She was subsequently charged with failure to appear for service of a sentence on April 14, 2026. A federal grand jury indicted her on the additional charge on October 23, 2026. The FBI disclosed that Hall was born in Nigeria on October 10, 1980, and also uses the aliases Emuobosan E. Hall, Emuobosan Emanuella Erih and Mobo. According to the agency’s wanted notice, she is approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighs about 87 kilogrammes, has black hair and brown eyes, and speaks English and some Yoruba.

The agency has urged anyone with information about her whereabouts to contact the nearest FBI office or the United States Embassy or Consulate. If convicted of the additional failure-to-report charge, Hall could face up to another 10 years in federal prison. The case highlights ongoing efforts by US authorities to pursue individuals accused of participating in international financial fraud and evading court-ordered sentences.
