11 Killed As Bandits Launch Reprisal Attacks On Katsina Villages
At least eleven persons have been killed following a reprisal attack by armed bandits on communities in Kankia Local Government Area of Katsina State. The incident occurred on Sunday at about 12:00 hours when the attackers reportedly regrouped and launched coordinated assaults on Jeka da Kolo and Kwalgoro villages, shooting indiscriminately at residents. The Katsina State Police Command confirmed the incident, stating that the bandits fatally shot eleven people before security forces responded. According to the command, tactical police teams were swiftly re-mobilised to the affected areas and engaged the attackers in a counter-operation aimed at restoring calm. Authorities said the swift intervention of security operatives helped repel the assailants and prevent further escalation of violence in the affected communities. The police added that efforts were ongoing to track down the fleeing bandits, while additional deployments had been made to strengthen security presence in the area.
