37-Year-Old Mother Renee Nicole Good Fatally Shot by Federal Immigration Agent

Minneapolis, MN — A federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent shot and killed a 37-year-old woman, identified by her family as Renee Nicole Good, in south Minneapolis on Wednesday morning during a federal immigration enforcement operation.

Good, a mother of three who had recently moved to Minneapolis with her family, was in her vehicle when the shooting occurred. Local media and family members say she had just dropped off her child at school and was not the target of any arrest, and eyewitness accounts suggest she posed no clear threat to officers at the time she fired upon.

Video of the incident shows federal agents surrounding her SUV. One ICE officer fired multiple shots at close range as Good’s vehicle began to move. She was struck in the head and later pronounced dead at a hospital.

Federal officials have defended the shooting, claiming Good attempted to use her vehicle to harm agents. Local leaders—including Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz—have strongly rejected that narrative and criticized the use of force. Thousands have gathered in Minneapolis for vigils and protests demanding accountability.

Good’s family and neighbors have described her as a compassionate person, devoted to her children and community, including creative pursuits such as poetry and writing.

The shooting has sparked outrage across the city and nationwide, fueling debates over federal immigration enforcement tactics, civilian safety, and law enforcement accountability.
