Operation Hadin Kai Troops Assure Enhanced Security Across North East During Eid El-Kabir Amid Boko Haram Threats
Operation Hadin Kai troops assure enhanced security across North East during Eid-el-Kabir amid Boko Haram threats Troops of Operation Hadin Kai OPHK have assured residents across Nigeria’s North East region of enhanced security measures before, during, and after the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations, amid concerns over possible Boko Haram and ISWAP threats. The assurance was contained in a statement by the Joint Task Force Headquarters of Operation Hadin Kai, which said security deployments had been strengthened across all operational sectors to ensure a peaceful festive period. According to the statement, troops have been forward-deployed to vulnerable and strategic locations, with intensified patrols, surveillance operations, and coordinated intelligence efforts aimed at preventing any breakdown of law and order during the celebrations.
The military said credible intelligence suggests possible attempts by remnants of Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province ISWAP fighters to exploit the festive period by targeting civilians, particularly in crowded public areas. OPHK noted that security agencies are working in collaboration with sister services, the Civilian Joint Task Force, and community-based vigilante groups to strengthen situational awareness and rapid response capabilities across the region. The command also stated that surveillance and intelligence assets have been activated to detect and neutralise any threats, while routine patrols have been intensified in cities, towns, and rural communities. Military authorities further advised residents to remain vigilant, avoid unnecessary exposure in crowded places, and, where possible, conduct Eid prayers and celebrations close to their homes.Residents were urged to promptly report suspicious movements, unattended objects, or individuals to the nearest security formation, while also cooperating with security personnel during routine checks and operations. The command emphasized the importance of avoiding the spread of unverified information that could trigger panic during the festive period. Operation Hadin Kai assured the public that all identified threats had been anticipated and that countermeasures had already been fully activated to safeguard lives and property. The military reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining ongoing counter-insurgency operations across the North East, a region that has remained the centre of Nigeria’s long-running conflict with Boko Haram insurgents. Despite recent improvements in security operations, sporadic attacks and attempted incursions by insurgent groups continue to pose risks, prompting heightened security alerts during major public holidays.
Authorities expressed confidence that the enhanced deployment would ensure a peaceful and secure Eid-el-Kabir celebration across affected states.
