Bitcoin Surges 6.6% to $77,472 as Crypto Rally Accelerates
Bitcoin surged 6.6 per cent on Friday to $77,472.44, extending a powerful three-day rally that has lifted the world’s largest cryptocurrency by more than 20 per cent since Wednesday. The latest jump pushed Bitcoin to its highest level since May, as investors responded positively to developments around U.S. cryptocurrency regulation and broader financial-market conditions. The rally has been supported by growing optimism over the proposed Clarity Act, which seeks to establish clearer rules for digital assets in the United States. President Donald Trump has backed the legislation, raising expectations that greater regulatory certainty could encourage institutional participation in the cryptocurrency market. Another major catalyst has been the U.S. Treasury’s decision to increase its purchases of longer-term government bonds. The move has helped push bond yields lower and weakened the dollar, encouraging investors to move money into higher-risk assets such as cryptocurrencies and gold. Bitcoin’s latest advance has also been accompanied by strong gains across the wider crypto market, with Ether, Solana and XRP among the major digital assets recording significant increases during the rally. Market activity has been further amplified by the unwinding of bearish positions. More than $4 billion in crypto positions were liquidated during the latest surge, adding momentum to the upward move. The rally marks a sharp turnaround for Bitcoin, which had traded near $60,000 earlier in August. Investors are now watching whether the cryptocurrency can sustain its momentum and challenge the $80,000 level. Despite the renewed optimism, analysts continue to warn that Bitcoin remains highly volatile and sensitive to changes in interest rates, regulation, liquidity and broader investor sentiment.
