Davido Says Akpabio, Dangote Asked Him to Delete Osun Election Posts Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has claimed that Senate President Godswill Akpabio and billionaire businessman Aliko Dangote contacted him during the 2026 Osun State governorship election and asked him to delete posts he had made about the poll. Speaking in an interview with News Central TV, Davido said he was posting updates about polling-unit results and became concerned when uploads to the Independent National Electoral Commission’s IReV portal appeared to slow down.

According to the singer, he received calls from influential figures asking him to remove his posts. He said he refused, telling Dangote that he would not delete anything until INEC officially announced the result. Davido also alleged that huge amounts of money were deployed during the election, claiming that more than ₦110 billion was brought into Osun State. That allegation has not been independently established. The singer said his involvement in monitoring the election was motivated by his family’s political ties to Osun. His uncle, Ademola Adeleke, was declared the winner of the governorship election, defeating APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji.

Davido argued that the election demonstrated the importance of voters resisting political pressure and financial inducements, saying citizens should remain vigilant throughout the electoral process.
