🇫🇷 Louvre Robbery: Thieves Used Chainsaws to Break Into Paris Museum

PARIS, FRANCE — [Hedews Europe Desk]
French media has reported that the daring robbers who broke into the world-famous Louvre Museum in Paris used small chainsaws to gain access to the building before escaping with several valuable pieces of jewellery.

The incident, which occurred early this morning, prompted the immediate closure of the Louvre as investigators and forensic experts secured the scene. According to reports, three masked men infiltrated the museum using a goods lift to reach the Apollo Gallery — home to part of France’s royal collection.

The suspects reportedly seized nine items of jewellery before fleeing the scene on a scooter. Thankfully, no injuries have been reported, and police have launched a nationwide search to locate the perpetrators.

France’s Culture Minister, Rachida Dati, confirmed the robbery and expressed shock at the audacity of the attack on one of the world’s most heavily guarded cultural landmarks.

In a brief statement on social media, the Louvre Museum announced it would remain closed for the rest of the day due to “exceptional reasons,” assuring the public that security has been heightened across all entrances.

Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage and interviewing witnesses as the investigation continues.
