I like it very much. It’s my everyday opportunity to be fit. It’s my passion,” she said.Sasha was seriously injured in 2022 when a Russian missile struck her hometown in Ukraine, leading to the amputation of part of her leg. After months of treatment, rehabilitation and learning to use a prosthetic limb, she returned to gymnastics, determined not to let the injury end her dreams. Her perseverance earned her the prestigious “Future of Ukraine” state honour from President Volodymyr Zelensky and First Lady Olena Zelenska in 2025. Since then, Sasha has travelled extensively, participating in gymnastics exhibitions and international events aimed at raising awareness of the impact of the war on Ukrainian children while promoting resilience through sport. According to her family and coaches, gymnastics has played a crucial role in Sasha’s physical recovery and emotional well-being, helping her rebuild confidence while adapting to life with a prosthetic leg.
