World Leaders Arrive as India Hosts 18th BRICS Summit

World leaders and senior government officials have arrived in India for the 18th BRICS Summit, as member countries and partner nations gather for discussions on global economic cooperation, development and international affairs. The summit brings together 11 BRICS member countries, alongside 10 partner countries, representing approximately 49 per cent of the world’s population and 40 per cent of global GDP. The 18th BRICS Summit provides a platform for emerging and developing economies to discuss shared priorities and strengthen cooperation across economic, political and strategic areas. The participation of partner countries also reflects the bloc’s expanding engagement with nations outside its core membership. Leaders are expected to discuss issues affecting the global economy, trade, development and the role of emerging economies in international institutions. The growing size and economic weight of BRICS have increased the group’s significance in global affairs, particularly as member states seek greater cooperation and representation in the international system. India is hosting the 18th edition of the summit, bringing together leaders from across the BRICS membership and representatives of partner nations.

The gathering comes as BRICS continues to expand its influence and deepen cooperation among countries representing a substantial share of the world’s population and economic output. The summit is expected to provide an opportunity for participating countries to strengthen diplomatic and economic ties while advancing areas of common interest.
