US Warns Of Possible Terror Threat Against Its Facilities, Schools In Nigeria The United States Embassy in Nigeria has issued a security alert warning of a possible terrorist threat targeting American facilities and U.S.-affiliated schools in the country. In a notice released on Monday, the embassy said the alert was intended to inform U.S. citizens in Nigeria about potential risks and urged them to exercise heightened caution when visiting American diplomatic missions and institutions linked to the United States. The alert specifically mentioned the U.S. Embassy in Abuja and the U.S. Consulate General in Lagos, advising American nationals to remain vigilant and adopt additional security measures while travelling to these locations. According to the advisory, U.S. citizens should take extra precautions when travelling to the embassy and consulate as well as to schools affiliated with the United States. The embassy recommended that American nationals vary their travel times and routes, avoid predictable routines, and remain aware of their surroundings at all times. It also urged them to keep a low profile in public places and stay alert to potential security risks. Other safety measures advised include keeping mobile phones charged for emergencies, avoiding crowds and demonstrations, and familiarising themselves with emergency exits when entering buildings. Despite the warning, the U.S. Embassy noted that the consular sections of its mission in Abuja and the consulate in Lagos remain open. American citizens were also advised to monitor official embassy channels for further updates on the situation.

The embassy, however, did not specify the source or nature of the potential threat. The alert comes amid heightened global tensions and security concerns involving the United States and its allies in several regions, which have raised fears of possible retaliatory actions against American interests worldwide.
