Tinubu Will Lose 2027 Election Before 4pm If Poll Is Free and Fair Baba-Ahmed The National Chairman of the Peoples Redemption Party PRP, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, has predicted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will lose the 2027 presidential election if the poll is conducted freely, fairly and credibly. Baba-Ahmed made the claim during an interview on Politics Today on Wednesday, saying he believed the electorate would vote against the incumbent if given a transparent opportunity to choose their next president.

The PRP chairman said his prediction was based on what he described as widespread dissatisfaction among Nigerians. He argued that millions of citizens who are unhappy with the current situation in the country must be allowed to express their views through the ballot box. Baba-Ahmed warned that preventing Nigerians from freely choosing their leaders could have serious consequences for the country’s democracy. He acknowledged, however, that defeating the All Progressives Congress APC in 2027 would not be easy, given the party’s political structure and influence across the country. Despite the challenge, he maintained that the APC could be defeated if opposition parties and their supporters were able to mobilise effectively and present Nigerians with a credible alternative. His comments come as political parties and opposition groups intensify preparations for the 2027 general elections. The debate over the credibility of the 2027 election has increasingly become a major political issue, with parties calling for a level playing field and stronger safeguards against electoral manipulation. The African Democratic Congress ADC, another opposition platform, also called recently for free, fair, transparent and peaceful elections, saying the 2027 polls should not be treated as a “do-or-die affair. Meanwhile, supporters of President Tinubu have expressed confidence in his chances of securing a second term. PDP member Segun Showunmi, for example, recently said he expected Tinubu to win but warned that opponents might reject the result and accuse the government of rigging the election. Baba-Ahmed has previously criticised Tinubu’s administration, arguing that insecurity, poverty and other challenges have worsened since he left government. In February, he said he believed Tinubu would make an even worse president if returned to office. With the 2027 presidential contest beginning to take shape, competing claims over Tinubu’s popularity and the strength of the opposition are expected to remain central to Nigeria’s political discourse.
