Tinubu Returns to Abuja After Eid‑el‑Fitr Holiday in Lagos

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has returned to Abuja after observing the Eid‑el‑Fitr holiday in Lagos, following a historic state visit to the United Kingdom. According to a statement by Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga, the President’s aircraft departed from the Presidential Wing of Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos at 6.44 pm on Wednesday.

President Tinubu had earlier returned to Nigeria from the UK in the early hours of Friday and joined the Eid‑el‑Fitr prayers held at Dodan Barracks in Lagos.During his stay in Lagos, the President hosted a series of engagements, receiving 23 state governors including Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji. He also held meetings with a delegation from the European Union and members of the Lagos State Governance Advisory Council (GAC).

Vice President Kashim Shettima also visited Lagos to brief the President on his recent trip to Borno State following a suicide bombing incident in the northeast. Officials at the departure ceremony included Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, former Ogun State Governor Aremo Olusegun Osoba, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo‑Olu, his Deputy Obafemi Hamzat, senior government officials and key party figures.

President Tinubu is expected to resume official duties in Abuja after the holiday break.
