Tinubu Commends Nigerian Army, Describes It as Strategic Force in National and Global Security The President described the Army as a strategic institution that remains central to Nigeria’s response to security challenges, while recognising the sacrifices made by officers and personnel in maintaining peace and stability.

Tinubu gave the commendation during an event honouring the Nigerian Army, where he acknowledged the force’s contributions to national defence, counter-terrorism operations, peacekeeping missions and humanitarian interventions.According to the President, the Nigerian Army has continued to demonstrate professionalism and commitment despite operating in complex security environments. He said the government remains committed to improving the welfare of troops and strengthening the capabilities of the armed forces. He noted that Nigeria’s security challenges require a modern, well-equipped and highly trained military capable of responding effectively to threats within the country and beyond its borders. The President also highlighted the Army’s involvement in regional security initiatives, particularly through operations aimed at promoting stability in West Africa and supporting collective efforts against terrorism, insurgency and transnational crimes. Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s support for ongoing reforms within the military, including improved equipment, training, logistics and welfare programmes designed to enhance operational effectiveness. The Nigerian Army has played major roles in internal security operations across the country, including efforts against insurgency in the North-East, banditry and other security threats affecting communities in different regions. Military authorities have repeatedly stated that the success of security operations depends on cooperation between the armed forces, government agencies, local communities and international partners.
