The Two Surveillance Aircraft Procured By The Oyo State Government

The two surveillance aircraft procured by the Oyo State Government to strengthen intelligence gathering and aerial security operations have arrived in Ibadan, marking a significant milestone in the state’s efforts to enhance its security architecture. The aircraft, flown into the state by Nigerian Air Force pilots, are expected to improve real-time surveillance, intelligence collection, and rapid response to security threats, including kidnapping, banditry, illegal mining, and other criminal activities across Oyo State. According to the state government, the aircraft form part of Governor Seyi Makinde’s broader security strategy aimed at supporting conventional security agencies with advanced aerial intelligence capabilities. The government stated that the platforms would work in collaboration with the Nigerian Air Force and other security agencies to provide continuous aerial monitoring and facilitate timely intervention in high-risk areas. State officials described the arrival of the aircraft as the fulfillment of an earlier commitment to deploy modern surveillance technology to tackle emerging security challenges. They noted that the aircraft would strengthen intelligence-led policing, improve situational awareness, and support efforts to safeguard lives, property, and critical infrastructure throughout the state.
