Princess Eugenie Names Baby Daughter Adelaide Elizabeth Annina

Princess Eugenie has announced the name of her newborn daughter, revealing that the baby is Adelaide Elizabeth Annina Brooksbank. Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, welcomed their first daughter on August 3, 2026, in Lisbon, Portugal. The couple shared the news publicly on August 17, saying their first two weeks with their daughter had been “special, cosy and love-filled.”

The name Adelaide carries both royal and Portuguese connections. It is believed to honour Queen Adelaide, the wife of King William IV, while also reflecting the couple’s ties to Portugal, where their family spends part of the year. Her middle name, Elizabeth, is a tribute to Eugenie’s late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, who was a particularly important figure in her life. The name continues a tradition among the Queen’s descendants of including Elizabeth in the names of their children. The meaning of Annina is more personal. It is understood to have been chosen in honour of someone close to the couple, although the precise identity of the person has not been publicly confirmed. Adelaide joins Eugenie and Jack’s two sons, August and Ernest, as the family’s third child and first daughter.

The new baby is 15th in line to the British throne and, like her brothers, does not have a royal title because Eugenie and Jack are not working members of the Royal Family.
