Police to Arraign Self-Styled PFIPC Director-General Adeniyi Adeyemi as Pressure Mounts for Independent Probe The Nigeria Police Force is set to arraign self-acclaimed Director-General of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council PFIPC , Adeniyi Adeyemi, amid growing calls for an independent investigation into the activities of the group and stronger oversight of public institutions. Adeyemi is expected to appear before a court on charges linked to allegations of impersonation, obtaining money under false pretences, and falsely presenting the PFIPC as a government backed body with links to the Presidency. The police investigation follows complaints from individuals and organisations who allegedly fell victim to the group’s activities. The planned arraignment comes as pressure mounts from lawmakers, civil society organisations, the Presidency, and the Anglican Church for a comprehensive probe into the circumstances surrounding the operations of the PFIPC and its claims of official recognition. The Presidency has distanced itself from the organisation, reiterating that the PFIPC is not a recognised government agency and warning members of the public to be cautious of individuals or groups falsely claiming affiliation with the Federal Government. Several members of the National Assembly have called for an independent investigation involving the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) and other relevant agencies to determine whether public officials or institutions played any role in legitimising the organisation’s activities.
