Police Arrest 19-Year-Old Over Alleged Impersonation, Attempted Robbery in Katsina The Katsina State Police Command has arrested a 19-year-old man for alleged impersonation and attempted armed robbery after he was reportedly caught chasing a victim while brandishing a toy pistol in Katsina metropolis. The incident occurred on August 22, 2026, at about 7:00 p.m., after police received information that the suspect was pursuing an unidentified person while displaying what appeared to be a firearm in an alleged attempt to rob the victim. Police operatives, working with members of a local vigilante group, responded to the report and tracked the suspect to Kofar Sauri, where he was arrested at about 8:00 p.m. the same day. A search of the suspect led to the recovery of a black toy pistol, which police said was allegedly used to intimidate the victim during the attempted robbery. According to the police, the suspect could not provide a satisfactory explanation for how he came into possession of the toy pistol during preliminary questioning. The suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the incident and the alleged impersonation.
