Nigerian Army Rescues Two Kidnap Victims in Taraba Operation

Troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, operating under Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke OPWS, have rescued two kidnapped victims during a coordinated operation in Lau Local Government Area of Taraba State. The rescue operation followed credible intelligence reports about the activities of armed criminal groups around the Lande Jessi area. The troops launched a search-and-rescue mission and successfully located the victims, who had reportedly been held in captivity for about one week. The rescued victims were identified as Usman Mohammed and Usman Harusu. According to the Nigerian Army, the operation was carried out after suspected kidnappers attacked communities in the area, including Tashan Musa and Barkindan Fulani villages, where residents were abducted and food supplies were taken. The Commander of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army and Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke, Brigadier General Chukwuemeka Michael Akaliro, commended the troops for their swift response, professionalism and commitment to protecting lives and property in Taraba State. He said the successful operation demonstrated the military’s determination to intensify efforts against criminal activities and restore peace in communities affected by insecurity. The Nigerian Army has urged residents to continue providing security agencies with timely and credible information to support ongoing efforts against kidnapping and other forms of criminality.
