NANS Begins Nationwide Tour of Federal Road Projects, Hails Tinubu, Umahi The National Association of Nigerian Students NANS has commenced a nationwide inspection tour of federal road projects, beginning with the Kaduna-Abuja and Kaduna-Kano highways, to assess their impact on students, tertiary institutions and communities. The student body said the exercise is aimed at monitoring ongoing federal infrastructure projects and evaluating how improved road networks could affect access to education, transportation and economic activities around tertiary institutions. The inspection began with the Kaduna-Abuja and Kaduna-Kano road corridors, which are important routes connecting students and educational institutions across northern Nigeria. NANS officials are expected to examine the progress of construction and rehabilitation works, as well as the effect of the projects on commuters and students who rely on the highways for movement. The association said its nationwide tour would provide an opportunity for students to directly assess federal projects and communicate their observations to relevant authorities. During the inspection, NANS expressed support for the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Minister of Works David Umahi over ongoing efforts to improve federal road infrastructure. The association said improved roads could contribute to easier movement, safer transportation and better connectivity for students travelling between campuses and their communities. NANS also indicated that the nationwide tour would extend to other federal road projects as the student body continues its assessment of infrastructure developments across the country. The student association said infrastructure development remains closely linked to the welfare of students and the effective operation of tertiary institutions. It said the condition of roads around educational institutions can influence transportation costs, accessibility and the ability of students to travel safely. The nationwide inspection is therefore expected to focus not only on the physical progress of road projects but also on their broader impact on students and tertiary education.
