Lagos to Shut Oke-Afa Bridge for Three-Week Rehabilitation

The Lagos State Government has announced plans to temporarily close the Oke-Afa Bridge in Isolo Local Government Area for three weeks to allow rehabilitation works to be carried out. The rehabilitation is scheduled to begin on Friday, August 28, and end on Friday, September 18, 2026. According to the Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, the project will be executed in two phases. The first phase, covering the Isolo to Ejigbo outbound axis, will run from August 28 to September 11. During this period, motorists travelling from Isolo towards Ejigbo will be diverted onto the Isolo-bound carriageway from Pako Roundabout, where traffic will operate in both directions before reconnecting with the main carriageway at Mobil Filling Station. The second phase will run from September 12 to September 18, covering the inbound Isolo section from Ejigbo. Motorists travelling from Ejigbo towards Isolo will be diverted onto the Ejigbo-bound carriageway from Mobil Filling Station, with traffic operating in both directions before reconnecting at Pako Roundabout. The government said the temporary closure is part of a traffic management plan designed to facilitate the rehabilitation while reducing disruption to motorists. The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority LASTMA will be deployed to manage traffic around the area, while an emergency tow vehicle will also be stationed along the route to respond to vehicle breakdowns.
