Kano Will Vote Tinubu in 2027, Governor Yusuf Assures

Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has assured President Bola Tinubu of the support of Kano residents in the 2027 general elections, expressing confidence that the state will mobilise substantial votes for the President’s re-election. Yusuf gave the assurance on Wednesday while representing Tinubu at the commissioning of a section of the Abuja–Kaduna–Zaria–Kano Highway at Tamburawa in Kano State. The governor said residents would support Tinubu to enable the continuation of his administration’s development projects, particularly infrastructure initiatives aimed at improving transportation and economic activities. “The people of Kano will come out en masse to vote for President Tinubu, not only in Kano but across the North-West, the South and the country at large, to ensure the continuation of his development projects,” Yusuf said. Yusuf commended the Federal Government for its ongoing infrastructure projects, describing the Abuja–Kaduna–Zaria–Kano Highway as an important road corridor that would ease movement across Northern Nigeria. He also observed that several projects undertaken by the Tinubu administration had not received adequate publicity. “I have seen many projects the President has executed that have not been publicised. I could go on and on listing the projects and initiatives of this administration,” he said. The governor expressed optimism that the Federal Government’s infrastructure investments would strengthen public support for Tinubu ahead of the next general election. Also speaking at the event, Minister of Works, David Umahi, said Nigeria was beginning to emerge from its period of severe economic hardship, arguing that the administration’s reforms were starting to produce positive results. “The reforms have started to yield dividends of democracy. Even in the darkest hour before dawn, there is hope. Let us support President Bola Tinubu,” Umahi said. He cited ongoing road construction and rehabilitation projects across Kano and other parts of the North-West as evidence of the administration’s infrastructure programme. The minister listed projects including the Kano Northern Bypass, Kano Ring Road, Kano–Kongolam road and Zaria–Hunkuyi road. He also mentioned the Sokoto–Zamfara–Zaria road project. Umahi said the Federal Government was continuing projects initiated under the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari, with some redesigned to incorporate reinforced concrete pavement. According to him, the Tinubu administration had completed nearly 400 kilometres of roads in the North-West within three years, while approximately 4,000 kilometres of road projects were ongoing in the region. He added that the Abuja–Kaduna–Zaria–Kano Highway would benefit communities beyond the North-West by improving connectivity and facilitating economic activities. Yusuf’s declaration signals his stated intention to mobilise political support for Tinubu in Kano ahead of the 2027 elections. However, the governor’s assurance represents a political commitment and does not establish how residents will ultimately vote.
