IGP Disu Deploys AIG Dankombo Morris to Plateau After Deadly Bokkos Attack The Inspector-General of Police IGP, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has deployed Assistant Inspector-General of Police AIG Dankombo Morris to Plateau State following a deadly attack in Bokkos Local Government Area, in a move aimed at conducting an operational assessment and strengthening security response in the region. The deployment follows the violent incident in Kawel community, Mushere District, where several residents were killed in a late-night attack that has heightened security concerns across Plateau State. According to police authorities, AIG Morris who oversees Zone 4 Headquarters in Makurdi has been tasked with assessing the security situation on the ground, coordinating immediate response measures, and recommending strategies to prevent further attacks in affected communities. As part of the directive, the IGP also approved the deployment of additional personnel, including Police Mobile Force operatives and tactical teams, to reinforce security presence across Bokkos and surrounding areas. During his visit, AIG Morris met with local government officials, traditional rulers, and community leaders to review the situation and coordinate security efforts. The Executive Chairman of Bokkos LGA, Amalau Samuel Amalau, described the attack as “tragic and unprovoked,” while commending the swift response of the Inspector-General of Police and calling for sustained security deployment in the area.Community representatives also urged security agencies to strengthen protection measures and ensure that promises of intervention translate into visible action, particularly in vulnerable rural communities affected by repeated violence. AIG Morris, speaking during the visit, conveyed the condolences of the Inspector-General of Police to the people of Plateau State and families affected by the attack. He condemned the incident as “barbaric” and assured residents that security agencies would intensify efforts to track down and apprehend the perpetrators. He also appealed for calm, urging residents to support security agencies with credible intelligence while continuing their lawful activities, stressing that additional operational assets had been deployed to restore stability. The deployment forms part of broader efforts by security agencies to curb recurring violent attacks in Plateau State, which has experienced waves of rural violence in recent years, often linked to communal tensions and armed assaults on farming communities.Authorities say the latest intervention is aimed at preventing further escalation while strengthening coordination between local security structures and national police command units. As operations continue, residents of Bokkos and surrounding areas remain under heightened security watch, with assurances of sustained patrols and intelligence-driven policing to restore peace.
