Governor Mbah Credits Tinubu’s Increased Allocations For Enugu’s Infrastructure Transformation
Governor Mbah Credits Tinubu’s Increased Allocations for Enugu’s Infrastructure Transformation Governor Peter Mbah has attributed the ongoing infrastructural transformation in Enugu State to increased federal allocations to subnational governments under the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Speaking on developments in the South-East region, Governor Mbah said the enhanced revenue available to states has enabled the Enugu State Government to undertake major infrastructure projects aimed at improving transportation, economic growth, and public services. According to the governor, reforms implemented by the Federal Government have significantly increased the financial resources available to state governments. He noted that the additional funds have strengthened Enugu’s capacity to invest in critical infrastructure, including roads, schools, healthcare facilities, and urban renewal projects.
Mbah said the state’s development agenda has benefited from the improved fiscal environment, allowing the government to accelerate projects that had previously been constrained by limited resources. The governor highlighted ongoing efforts to modernize Enugu’s infrastructure as part of a broader strategy to position the state as a leading destination for investment and business. He pointed to road construction and rehabilitation projects, improvements in public facilities, and initiatives designed to enhance connectivity across urban and rural communities. He stated that infrastructure development remains central to the state’s economic growth plans and is intended to create jobs, attract private-sector investment, and improve residents’ quality of life. Governor Mbah linked the progress being recorded in Enugu to the Federal Government’s economic reforms under the Renewed Hope Agenda, describing the increased allocations as a key factor in enabling states to deliver development projects more effectively. He expressed appreciation to President Tinubu’s administration for policies that have expanded the fiscal space available to subnational governments and emphasized the importance of continued collaboration between federal and state authorities. The governor also noted that improved funding to states has the potential to accelerate development across the South-East region, enabling governments to address infrastructure deficits and strengthen economic opportunities. Analysts say higher allocations to state governments following recent fiscal reforms have provided many states with greater capacity to fund capital projects, although debates continue over the sustainability of spending and the need for improved revenue generation at the state level. The Enugu State Government says it will continue prioritizing infrastructure investments as part of its long-term development strategy. Officials maintain that ongoing projects are expected to enhance economic activity, improve public services, and support the state’s ambition of becoming a major economic hub in southeastern Nigeria.
