Glo Unveils ‘Gloria’ AI Assistant Ahead of 23rd Anniversary
Telecommunications giant Globacom has unveiled “Gloria,” an artificial intelligence-powered virtual assistant designed to improve customer experience on its Glo Café platform. The new innovation is part of the company’s digital transformation drive as Globacom prepares to mark its 23rd anniversary on August 29, 2026.
According to the company, Gloria is designed to make it easier for subscribers to access support, resolve service-related enquiries and navigate various account services through an automated digital interface. The AI-powered assistant also supports six languages, a feature Glo said would help make its digital services more accessible to a wider range of customers. The introduction of Gloria comes as telecommunications companies increasingly turn to artificial intelligence to improve customer support and provide faster responses to subscribers. Through its integration with Glo Café, Gloria is expected to assist customers with routine enquiries and service requests without requiring them to rely solely on traditional customer-care channels. The move is also expected to give subscribers greater access to support through digital self-service, particularly as demand for convenient, round-the-clock customer assistance continues to increase. Glo Café itself serves as a self-care platform through which subscribers can manage several aspects of their mobile accounts, including data and airtime services, while also accessing entertainment and customer-support features. Globacom said the launch of Gloria forms part of a broader effort to strengthen its digital ecosystem and improve the quality of services available to millions of subscribers. The company has also been carrying out network and infrastructure upgrades as part of efforts to improve voice and data services across the country.
Recent initiatives include additional 4G LTE deployments as well as upgrades to its fibre, core, transmission and IP network infrastructure. The company has also highlighted its “More Data More Value” proposition and expanded “Borrow Me Credit” service as part of its efforts to provide customers with greater value and maintain connectivity. The increasing use of artificial intelligence in telecommunications reflects changing customer expectations.
Rather than waiting for human agents to respond to routine requests, subscribers are increasingly looking for instant assistance through mobile applications and other digital platforms. AI-powered assistants such as Gloria can handle repetitive enquiries while providing customers with a faster route to information and basic service management. For Globacom, the development represents another step in its push to make its customer-facing platforms more responsive and digitally driven. Globacom began operations in Nigeria in 2003 and is preparing to celebrate 23 years in the country’s telecommunications industry. The anniversary provides the company with an opportunity not only to reflect on its contribution to Nigeria’s telecom sector but also to showcase new technologies aimed at shaping its next phase of growth. With the unveiling of Gloria, Glo is positioning artificial intelligence as an important component of its customer-service strategy, signalling a broader shift towards automated and personalised digital interactions. As the company continues its anniversary activities, the AI assistant is expected to form part of the innovations highlighting Globacom’s ongoing efforts to improve how subscribers interact with its services.
