Five Killed in Coordinated Attacks Across Plateau Communities

At least five people, including a pastor, were killed in coordinated attacks carried out across communities in Plateau State on Friday night, August 28, 2026, according to reports. The attacks reportedly occurred in different communities, with suspected terrorists targeting residents and travellers in a series of violent incidents. According to conflict journalist Masara Kim Usman, the attackers first laid an ambush along the Barkin Ladi-Bokkos road, where they abducted two people, including Pastor Hills Emmanuel, a Ghanaian-Nigerian cleric based in Bokkos who was travelling to the area after attending a programme in Jos. Pastor Emmanuel was later reportedly found dead, while other victims were killed in separate attacks across Plateau communities. The coordinated nature of the attacks has heightened concerns over the security situation in the state, which has experienced repeated deadly attacks and communal violence in recent years. Residents and community leaders have continued to call for stronger security measures to protect vulnerable communities and prevent further attacks.
