FG Reaffirms Engineering as Catalyst for National Development
The Federal Government has reaffirmed the importance of engineering as a key driver of national development, highlighting the profession’s role in infrastructure growth, industrialisation and technological advancement. The government said engineers remain central to achieving sustainable development through their contributions to critical sectors including construction, energy, transportation, manufacturing and digital innovation.
Officials noted that strengthening engineering capacity is essential to addressing Nigeria’s development challenges, improving local production and reducing dependence on imported technologies.
The Federal Government emphasised the need for continued investment in technical education, professional training and research to equip Nigerian engineers with the skills required to compete globally. Stakeholders in the engineering sector have also called for stronger collaboration between government, industry and academic institutions to promote innovation and support home grown solutions.
