FG Advances Implementation of Lagos International Financial Centre
The Federal Government has advanced plans for the implementation of the Lagos International Financial Centre, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s position as a major financial hub in Africa. The initiative is expected to create a globally competitive financial ecosystem capable of attracting international investors, expanding access to capital and supporting the growth of financial services and related industries. The Federal Government said the development forms part of broader efforts to deepen Nigeria’s financial markets, improve the business environment and position Lagos as a leading destination for global financial activities. The proposed centre is also expected to enhance Nigeria’s integration with international financial markets while creating opportunities for investment, innovation, job creation and economic growth. Government officials have continued engagements with relevant stakeholders to advance the framework and institutional arrangements required for the successful implementation of the project. The initiative comes as the Federal Government intensifies efforts to attract foreign capital and strengthen the country’s economic competitiveness through strategic infrastructure and policy reforms. The Lagos International Financial Centre is expected to complement existing financial institutions and infrastructure in Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial capital, while providing an environment designed to meet international standards. The Federal Government said further steps would be taken to ensure the project delivers sustainable economic benefits and strengthens Nigeria’s position in the global financial system.
