The Brazilian attacker was rewarded for his outstanding performances during Chelsea’s opening two league matches, in which he scored twice and provided two assists as the Blues recorded victories over Fulham and Brighton & Hove Albion. João Pedro made an immediate impact in Chelsea’s opening league fixture against Fulham, scoring after just 31 seconds before later assisting Cole Palmer as the Blues secured a 3-2 victory. He continued his excellent form against Brighton, scoring Chelsea’s third goal before setting up Palmer for the decisive strike in a thrilling 4-3 win. His four direct goal contributions helped Chelsea begin the new Premier League season with two victories under manager Xabi Alonso. The honour is João Pedro’s first Premier League Player of the Month award.
