Alleged Plot to Assassinate Wole Oke is a Hoax TICC

The Imole Campaign Council TICC, which is responsible for Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke’s re-election campaign, has dismissed the alleged assassination plot against the lawmaker representing Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Wole Oke, describing the claim as a hoax.

The council made this position known on Sunday during a press briefing in Osogbo, where its spokesperson, Pelumi Olajengbesi, addressed journalists and challenged the credibility of the police investigation into the incident. According to TICC, a viral video circulating online allegedly shows one of the arrested suspects, Olamilekan Oriyomi, claiming that he and others were not assassins but were instead hired to provide security at the event where the alleged incident took place. The council argued that this video contradicts the narrative presented by the Osun State Police Command. Olajengbesi accused the police of selective disclosure, insisting that the full confessional statements and complete video recordings of the suspects’ interrogation should be made public to allow Nigerians to know the truth. He further alleged that the investigation was being influenced by political interests and called for an independent review by the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, as well as oversight from the Police Service Commission.

TICC also claimed that the police had failed to adequately explain contradictions emerging from the suspect’s video statements and the official account of the attempted assassination, insisting that innocent individuals may have been wrongly implicated. The council maintained that unless the full investigation records are released, public confidence in the neutrality of the police would continue to decline, warning that withholding evidence could deepen suspicions of political manipulation. Meanwhile, the Osun State Police Command had earlier paraded three suspects in connection with the alleged attempted assassination, claiming they were arrested after an attack on Oke during his visit to Ipetu-Ijesa in Oriade Local Government Area.
