A Man Involved In The Overdose Death Of “Friends” Star Matthew Perry Has Been Sentenced To Two Years In Prison

A man involved in the overdose death of “Friends” star Matthew Perry has been sentenced to two years in prison after admitting his role in supplying the ketamine that led to the actor’s fatal overdose. Erik Fleming, a former licensed drug addiction counsellor, was sentenced in federal court in Los Angeles after previously pleading guilty to conspiracy to distribute ketamine and distribution resulting in death. Prosecutors said Fleming supplied ketamine to Perry’s personal assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa, who later administered the fatal dose to the actor in October 2023. US authorities said Perry died from the acute effects of ketamine, with drowning also listed as a contributing factor after he lost consciousness in a hot tub at his Los Angeles home. The actor, best known for playing Chandler Bing in the hit sitcom Friends, was 54 years old at the time of his death.During sentencing, Fleming reportedly told the court he was “haunted” by his actions and described the case as “a nightmare.” Judge Sherilyn Garnett sentenced him to 24 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release. Prosecutors said his cooperation with investigators helped authorities uncover a wider network involved in illegally supplying ketamine to Perry. The investigation led to charges against five people, including doctors and alleged dealer Jasveen Sangha, known by prosecutors as the “Ketamine Queen.” Sangha was earlier sentenced to 15 years in prison for her role in supplying the drugs connected to Perry’s death.Court documents revealed that Perry had been undergoing ketamine therapy for depression but later sought additional supplies outside medical supervision. Prosecutors alleged that members of the network exploited the actor’s addiction struggles for financial gain.Fleming is the fourth person to be sentenced in connection with the case, while Perry’s former assistant Kenneth Iwamasa is still awaiting sentencing.
