CCII warns Fayose against dragging Olubadan into political battles, calls remarks provocative The Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes CCII has again cautioned former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, over what it described as repeated attempts to drag the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, into partisan political controversies. The council said Fayose’s recent comments were “highly provocative and unreasonable,” warning that such statements could misrepresent and undermine the dignity of the Olubadan institution. In a statement issued by its Publicity Secretary, Kola Olomide, the CCII urged the former governor to refrain from involving the revered monarch in his political disagreements, insisting that traditional institutions must be respected and kept away from partisan struggles. The group stressed that it had earlier warned Fayose on similar issues, but he allegedly continued to make remarks linking the Olubadan to political disputes, which it said could create unnecessary tension in Ibadanland. According to the CCII, the Olubadan stool is a respected traditional institution that should not be associated with political conflict or speculative claims. It maintained that such comments were capable of misleading the public and heating up the political atmosphere. The council further advised Fayose to focus on his political engagements without making statements that could be interpreted as attempts to destabilise peace in Ibadanland. The controversy stems from Fayose’s recent public comments on national television and social media, where he made claims involving political actors in the South West, which stakeholders in Oyo State have consistently rejected. The CCII reiterated that Ibadanland would not tolerate any external attempts to politicise its traditional leadership structure or incite unrest through “careless political rhetoric.
