ASUU Benin Zone Threatens Strike Over Alleged Failure to Fully Implement 2025–2026 Agreement The Benin Zone of the Academic Staff Union of Universities ASUU has threatened fresh industrial action over what it described as the Federal Government’s failure to fully implement the 2025–2026 renegotiated agreement reached with the union. The warning comes amid growing tensions between the union and government over unresolved welfare issues, funding gaps, and delayed implementation of key provisions of the agreement aimed at stabilising Nigeria’s public university system.ASUU leaders in the Benin Zone said they were concerned that several critical components of the agreement had not been implemented as agreed, despite repeated assurances from government authorities. The zone warned that continued delay could destabilise academic activities across universities in its jurisdiction if urgent action is not taken.
