Scotland’s first-ever baby sloth born at Edinburgh Zoo has been named “Atty” in honour of renowned natural historian Sir David Attenborough, celebrating his lifelong contribution to wildlife conservation and education. The newborn Linne’s two-toed sloth marks a historic milestone for the zoo and wildlife conservation efforts in Scotland. Zookeepers announced that the name Atty was chosen as a tribute to Attenborough, whose decades of broadcasting and environmental advocacy have inspired generations around the world. The baby sloth was born to first-time parents at Edinburgh Zoo, making it the first successful sloth birth recorded in Scotland.
