Security sources said the raid was conducted on Wednesday evening at about 5:00 p.m., following intelligence reports on illegal arms production activities in the area. During the operation, troops arrested two suspects who were reportedly caught in the act of manufacturing weapons. Military personnel also recovered multiple weapons and tools, including rifles and industrial equipment believed to have been used in assembling firearms.

Items seized from the site included AK-47 rifles, a G3 rifle, welding machines, drilling equipment, generators, and other tools used in arms fabrication. According to military officials, the raid is part of ongoing efforts under Operation Enduring Peace to curb the proliferation of illegal arms and dismantle criminal supply chains fueling insecurity in the region. The suspects are currently in custody and undergoing interrogation to determine the extent of their network and possible links to armed groups operating across Plateau and neighbouring states. Plateau State and surrounding areas in Nigeria’s North-Central region have witnessed recurring security challenges, including communal violence and armed banditry, often worsened by the circulation of illegal firearms.

Security operations in the region have increasingly focused on identifying arms production hubs and disrupting supply lines to armed criminal groups. Military authorities say mop-up operations are ongoing, with troops continuing surveillance and intelligence-led raids aimed at preventing further production and distribution of illegal weapons in the area.
