FG, States, LGs Share ₦2.036trn March 2026 Revenue FAAC

The Federal Government, state governments and local government councils have shared a total sum of ₦2.036 trillion as revenue generated in March 2026 from the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC). The revenue distribution was announced at the end of the FAAC meeting held in Abuja, where representatives of the three tiers of government reviewed statutory earnings and approved the disbursement. According to the communiqué issued after the meeting, the ₦2.036 trillion total distributable revenue comprised:

  • ₦1.320 trillion as distributable statutory revenue
  • ₦515.391 billion as distributable Value Added Tax (VAT) revenue
  • ₦200 billion augmentation to boost allocations

The augmentation was introduced to support government finances amid fluctuating revenue inflows. The revenue was shared among the Federal Government, states, and the 774 local government councils in line with existing revenue-sharing formulas under the Federation Account. FAAC explained that the disbursement is aimed at enabling all tiers of government to meet financial obligations, fund infrastructure projects, and support economic activities nationwide Officials noted that statutory revenue remained the largest contributor to the distributable pool, while VAT receipts also formed a significant portion of the allocation. The committee further reviewed trends in oil and non-oil revenues, stressing the need for improved revenue generation and fiscal discipline across government institutions. The Federation Account Allocation Committee meets monthly to distribute revenues generated by the Federal Government from sources including:

  • crude oil sales,
  • taxes,
  • customs duties, and
  • other federally collected revenues.

The March 2026 allocation represents one of the highest monthly revenue distributions so far this year, reflecting efforts to stabilise government finances and sustain public spending across Nigeria.
