Delta Security Operatives Intensify Raids, Arrest Suspects, Recover Firearms, Drugs and Weapons in Intelligence-Led Operations Security operatives in Delta State have stepped up intelligence-led raids on criminal networks across the state, resulting in the arrest of multiple suspects and the recovery of firearms, illicit drugs and dangerous weapons in a series of coordinated operations. The Delta State Police Command confirmed that operatives intensified offensive actions against criminal hideouts in different parts of the state as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle organised crime and bolster public safety. In one of the notable operations carried out on April 4, 2026, officers of the Command’s Raiders Unit, acting on credible intelligence, raided a suspected criminal hideout in Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area. The operation led to the arrest of Henry Obi, 34, a native of Anambra State, who reportedly confessed to being a member of the notorious Aiye Confraternity. A thorough search of the premises uncovered an English-made pistol loaded with six rounds of live ammunition. Investigators also discovered suspected illicit drugs cleverly concealed inside a standing air-conditioning unit in the living room an apparent attempt to evade law enforcement detection. In a related raid conducted on April 5, 2026, operatives of the Delta State Police Command’s Buffalo Team, in collaboration with members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), Achalla Branch, carried out a coordinated operation at the Hausa Market near the Customs Checkpoint along the Benin–Asaba Expressway. The action resulted in the arrest of four suspects Yakubu Umar (19), Galiu Adamu (17), Nuhu Musa (16) and Zaraduwu Usman (21) who were found in possession of large quantities of suspected illicit drugs. Items recovered included Colorado, Canadian Loud, Indian hemp, Tramadol and Swinol, as well as two locally fabricated battle axes and N144,000 in cash.

All suspects and exhibits are currently in police custody as investigations continue. The Delta State Commissioner of Police, Yemi Oyeniyi, praised the operatives for their professionalism, swift response and effective collaboration with local vigilante groups, describing the operations as critical to the Command’s ongoing crackdown on crime across the state. The police boss called on residents to remain vigilant and support security agencies with credible information, emphasising that the command remains committed to the protection of lives and property across Delta State. The recent operations form part of sustained intelligence-driven enforcement activities by the Delta State Police Command aimed at curbing cultism, drug peddling, armed robbery and other criminal activities that have plagued communities in the region. Security sources say similar coordinated raids in recent months have led to the recovery of locally made firearms, hard drugs and the arrest of suspected firearm fabricators and other criminal actors in various localities across the state.
