Rapper Kanye West Ordered to Pay $140,000 in Malibu Mansion Lawsuit Kanye West, the American rapper also known as Ye, has been ordered by a Los Angeles jury to pay $140,000 to a handyman who sued him over unpaid work carried out during renovations of his luxury Malibu mansion.

The lawsuit was filed by Tony Saxon, a contractor who worked on the beachfront property and claimed he was not properly paid for his services and was forced to work under unsafe conditions. According to court documents, Saxon said he was hired in 2021 as a project manager, caretaker and security guard for the property, which the rapper purchased for about $57 million. He alleged that he worked long hours on the renovation project but received only one payment before being dismissed from the job. Saxon initially sought $1.7 million in damages, claiming unpaid wages, wrongful termination, disability discrimination and unsafe working conditions. However, the jury rejected most of the claims and awarded him $140,000 to cover medical expenses and lost wages related to injuries he said he suffered while working on the project. During the trial, West’s legal team argued that Saxon was an unlicensed contractor and disputed the allegations made against the rapper. They also claimed Saxon had already received substantial payments during the renovation work. The dispute centers on a controversial renovation of the Malibu mansion, designed by renowned Japanese architect Tadao Ando, which West reportedly stripped of windows, plumbing and electricity as part of plans to transform it into an “off-the-grid” residence. Legal experts say the case is part of a series of lawsuits involving the rapper in recent years. Despite winning only a fraction of the compensation he requested, Saxon’s lawyers described the verdict as a “moral victory.”
