A major Mexican military operation reportedly killed Nemesio “El Mencho” Oseguera Cervantes, leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), one of Mexico’s most powerful criminal groups involved in drug trafficking and violent crime. The operation took place in Tapalpa in Jalisco State and also resulted in the death of several cartel members and injuries to security personnel.
