Kim Kardashian Awarded €1 by Paris Court Over 2016 Armed Robbery
A Paris court has awarded Kim Kardashian €1 ($1.15) in damages over the armed robbery she suffered in the French capital in 2016. The symbolic compensation was the exact amount Kardashian had requested in the civil case, according to a lawyer involved in the proceedings. The incident occurred during Paris Fashion Week in October 2016, when armed men posing as police officers entered the luxury residence where Kardashian was staying. She was held at gunpoint and tied up while the robbers stole millions of dollars’ worth of jewellery. More than $6 million in jewellery was reported stolen, with much of it still unrecovered. Kardashian later testified about the incident during the criminal trial, describing the lasting impact of the robbery. Rather than seeking a substantial financial award, Kardashian requested only one euro, making the payment symbolic. Her friend and stylist, Simone Harouche, who was also present during the robbery, received the same €1 award.Other victims received substantially larger amounts. A former hotel receptionist was awarded €109,516, while the Hôtel de Pourtalès received €50,000 in compensation. The case followed a criminal trial in which eight people were convicted over their roles in the robbery. The suspects were widely dubbed the “Grandpa Robbers” because of their ages. The convictions came after years of investigation and legal proceedings, with Kardashian appearing in court to give evidence in 2025. The €1 award brings the civil proceedings concerning Kardashian’s claim to a close, nearly a decade after the robbery.
