Tinubu, Family Enjoy Unimpeded Transit and Immunity During UNGA Jimoh Ibrahim Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Jimoh Ibrahim, has said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and members of his family enjoy unimpeded transit and immunity from arrest while attending the United Nations General Assembly UNGA in the United States. Ibrahim made the assertion while addressing issues surrounding the President’s participation in the annual UN gathering in New York. According to the Nigerian envoy, the privileges available to heads of state and accredited officials attending UNGA provide protection that allows them to participate in the proceedings without facing arrest or restrictions from the host country. He said President Tinubu and his family members would therefore be able to travel freely during the UNGA period without being subjected to arrest in connection with any alleged case in the United States. The statement comes amid discussions and speculation surrounding the legal status of the Nigerian President and whether any proceedings in the United States could affect his attendance at the international gathering. Ibrahim’s comments are aimed at clarifying the diplomatic protections applicable to the President during the UN General Assembly and his official engagement in New York.
