NPF Reaffirms Commitment to INTERPOL Cooperation as World Marks UN Police Cooperation Day The Nigeria Police Force NPF has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening international law enforcement cooperation as police organisations around the world mark the United Nations International Day of Police Cooperation.

The observance highlights the growing importance of collaboration among law enforcement agencies in tackling transnational crime, protecting vulnerable people and improving public safety. Inspector General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, said effective international cooperation remains essential to addressing emerging security threats and preventing criminals from exploiting borders and differences in jurisdictions to escape justice. According to the IGP, the Nigeria Police Force is committed to deepening its partnership with INTERPOL and other international law enforcement organisations. Disu identified information sharing, coordinated investigations, capacity building and cross-border operational support as key areas that must continue to receive attention in the fight against organised and transnational crime. He stressed that criminals increasingly operate across national boundaries, making cooperation between police organisations critical to tracking suspects, disrupting criminal networks and bringing offenders to justice. The NPF said stronger partnerships with international law enforcement agencies would also enhance its ability to respond to emerging security challenges while improving the protection of vulnerable persons. The police leadership noted that international collaboration provides law enforcement agencies with opportunities to share intelligence, expertise and operational resources in confronting crimes that transcend national borders. The Inspector-General reiterated the NPF’s determination to work closely with INTERPOL and other global partners to strengthen Nigeria’s contribution to international policing efforts and enhance security for citizens. The United Nations International Day of Police Cooperation serves as a reminder of the need for stronger global partnerships as law enforcement agencies confront increasingly complex and interconnected security threats.
