FG, Taraba Strengthen Collaboration on Solid Minerals Investment

The Federal Government and the Taraba State Government have strengthened collaboration to attract greater investment into the state’s solid minerals sector and unlock the economic potential of its mineral resources. The renewed partnership is aimed at creating a more conducive environment for investors while promoting responsible exploration and development of Taraba’s solid mineral deposits. The Federal Government has continued to prioritise the development of Nigeria’s solid minerals sector as part of efforts to diversify the economy away from overdependence on oil and expand alternative sources of revenue. Greater investment in the sector is expected to support industrial development, create employment opportunities and generate additional revenue for both the federal and state governments. The collaboration with Taraba is also expected to encourage private-sector participation and attract investors interested in exploring and developing commercially viable mineral resources in the state. Government authorities are expected to work together on improving the investment environment, strengthening regulation and ensuring that mineral resources are developed in a sustainable and responsible manner. The initiative forms part of broader efforts to reposition Nigeria’s mining sector as a major contributor to economic growth and development. With Taraba possessing significant mineral resources, stronger cooperation between the federal and state governments could help accelerate exploration, investment and value addition within the sector.
