Tottenham Complete £75m Signing of Savinho from Manchester City

Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of Brazilian winger Savinho from Manchester City in a deal worth an initial £75 million, with a further £10 million available in performance-related add-ons. The transfer takes Tottenham’s spending under manager Roberto De Zerbi beyond the £300 million mark during a major summer squad rebuild. Reports put the club’s total spending at more than £300 million, with further additions potentially still to come. Savinho, 22, has signed for Spurs after two seasons at Manchester City. He made 84 appearances for the club, scoring seven goals, but struggled to establish himself as a regular starter. The Brazilian previously enjoyed an impressive loan spell at Girona, where he scored 11 goals and provided 10 assists during the 2023-24 campaign, helping the Spanish side qualify for the Champions League. Tottenham are hoping the winger can reproduce his Girona form in north London. Known for his pace, creativity and ability to operate on the right wing, Savinho is expected to add greater attacking threat to De Zerbi’s squad. De Zerbi praised the Brazilian’s energy and creativity, while Savinho expressed his excitement about joining Tottenham and working with the Italian manager. The move also represents a significant profit for Manchester City, who acquired Savinho from Troyes for £30.8 million in 2024. The initial £75 million Spurs fee is more than double that amount, potentially rising to £85 million with add-ons. Savinho has also opted to be known simply as Sávio, with the new name set to appear on the back of his Tottenham shirt. Tottenham’s aggressive transfer activity comes after the club narrowly avoided relegation last season, finishing 17th in the Premier League. The club have already recruited several high-profile players as De Zerbi attempts to transform the squad. The signing follows Tottenham’s disappointing start to the new Premier League campaign, with Spurs suffering a 3-0 defeat to Brentford in their opening match. With Sávio now added to the squad, Tottenham will hope the Brazilian can provide the creativity and attacking quality needed to push the club higher up the Premier League table.
