ZACCIMA Removes Deputy President 1 Chika Galidima Over Alleged Irregularities The Zamfara State Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture ZACCIMA has removed its Deputy President 1, Chika Galidima, after executive members of the chamber and more than 30 representatives of traders’ associations passed a unanimous vote of no confidence against him. The decision was reached at a stakeholders’ meeting held at Falala Hotel in Gusau

Members of ZACCIMA’s Executive Council and representatives of traders’ associations accused Galidima of several alleged offences, including delays in making decisions needed to move the chamber forward and allegedly personalising the affairs of the organisation. The stakeholders said the decision to remove him was unanimous, describing it as a response to what they considered failures in leadership. The council subsequently appointed the chamber’s former Deputy President 2, Alhaji Abubakar Kabir, to take over as Deputy President 1 In his acceptance speech, Kabir thanked the Executive Council, traders and business associations for his appointment. He pledged to work with stakeholders to strengthen commercial activities across Zamfara State. Kabir also promised to collaborate with the state government to promote trade and businesses and contribute to the development of economic activities in the state. He appealed to members and other stakeholders to support efforts to strengthen the chamber and expand its role in promoting commerce across Zamfara. The stakeholders also used the meeting to call on Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal to provide greater support for traders and businesses. They specifically urged the governor to consider approving loans for traders to enable them to expand their businesses and boost commercial activities across the state. The traders argued that increased financial support could help revive economic activity and strengthen businesses operating in Zamfara. Representatives of several traders’ and business associations attended the meeting, including cattle dealers, motorcycle sellers, fish sellers, poultry farmers, dates sellers, block and boulder sellers, groundnut sellers and grain dealers. Their participation underlined the broad representation behind the vote of no confidence and the leadership change announced by the chamber. The leadership change comes at a time when businesses in Zamfara continue to face the wider challenges of stimulating economic activity and expanding commercial opportunities. With Kabir now taking over as Deputy President 1, attention will turn to whether the new leadership can restore confidence among chamber members, strengthen cooperation with traders’ associations and work more closely with the state government. For ZACCIMA, the immediate priority will be turning the leadership transition into stronger advocacy and practical support for businesses across Zamfara State.
