Princess Eugenie Welcomes Baby Girl in Portugal, Buckingham Palace Confirms Princess Eugenie has given birth to a baby girl, Buckingham Palace has announced, marking the arrival of the newest member of the British royal family. The baby was born on Monday evening at a hospital in Lisbon, Portugal, where the princess and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, spend much of their time.

The palace said the infant was born at 6:20 p.m., weighing 6 pounds, 9 ounces 3 kilograms. Both mother and baby are reported to be doing well. King Charles III, Queen Camilla, and other members of the royal family were informed of the birth and expressed their delight at the news. Princess Eugenie, the younger daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, later shared the happy news on social media, saying she and her husband were “beyond in love” with their daughter. The couple have not yet announced the baby’s name and said they are taking time to enjoy the newest addition to their family.

The newborn is the couple’s third child and first daughter, joining her older brothers, August, 5, and Ernest, 3. She is now 15th in line to the British throne and becomes one of the late Queen Elizabeth II’s great-grandchildren. The birth is also notable as one of the rare occasions a British royal has been born outside the United Kingdom.

Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank, who married in 2018, divide their time between the United Kingdom and Portugal, where Brooksbank works. The family is expected to remain in Portugal for the time being as they celebrate the birth of their daughter.
