NAFDAC Seals Three Ogun Factories Over Alleged Production of Banned Sachet Alcohol The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control NAFDAC has sealed three alcohol manufacturing facilities in Ogun State over alleged violations of the Federal Government’s ban on the production of alcoholic beverages packaged in sachets and small PET bottles. The enforcement operation, carried out in parts of Ogun State including the Sango Ota and Idi-Iroko areas, was led by officials from NAFDAC’s Investigation and Enforcement Directorate. The agency said its team uncovered continued production of prohibited alcoholic products and other regulatory breaches during inspections. NAFDAC said one of the affected facilities was found producing sachet alcohol and storing quantities of small PET bottles despite regulatory restrictions. The agency also alleged that another company continued production of banned products after previous enforcement actions, leading to the immediate sealing of the premises. In another case, officials said a company previously placed under enforcement measures had resumed operations after machines and materials linked to prohibited products were restricted. NAFDAC stated that additional packaging materials and equipment discovered during the inspection prompted further action. The agency said the crackdown forms part of its wider enforcement of the government’s prohibition on alcoholic drinks packaged in sachets and PET bottles below 200 millilitres, a policy it says is aimed at protecting public health and reducing access to easily consumed high-alcohol products.

NAFDAC urged manufacturers, distributors, retailers and members of the public to comply with the regulation and report suspected production or sale of banned alcoholic beverages to the agency.
