Adeniyi Adeyemi’s Arraignment Stalled Over Failure to Appear in Court

The planned arraignment of Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, the self-acclaimed Director-General of the alleged Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council PFIPC, was stalled on Tuesday after he failed to appear before the Federal High Court in Abuja. Adeyemi was expected to appear before the court to take his plea on charges reportedly bordering on alleged forgery, impersonation and related offences connected to the PFIPC controversy. However, proceedings could not commence due to his absence. The case has attracted public attention following claims surrounding the existence of the PFIPC, with the Presidency maintaining that the council is not a recognised government agency. Authorities have alleged that Adeyemi presented himself as a government-appointed official through documents and representations that are being challenged in court.
