19-Year-Old Newlywed Arrested Over Alleged Poisoning of Husband in Bauchi A 19-year-old newlywed, Aisha Musa, has been arrested by the Bauchi State Police Command over an alleged attempt to poison her husband, barely 40 days after their wedding. According to the police, the incident occurred on August 12, 2026, at Gwamma Village in Bauchi Local Government Area. Police spokesperson SP Nafiu Habib said Musa allegedly introduced a poisonous substance into her husband’s meal at about 3:15pm Police said a distress call was received at about 7:40pm from an unidentified woman in the Wunti Dada area of Bauchi. Operatives from the ‘C’ Division, Tafawa Balewa Estate, were subsequently deployed to the scene and evacuated the victim to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital ATBUTH, Bauchi. The husband is currently receiving treatment and has been reported to be in stable condition. The police said Musa was promptly arrested and allegedly made a confessional statement during interrogation. Investigators also recovered an empty bottle suspected to have contained poison, as well as remnants of the food allegedly given to the victim. The items have been registered as exhibits. The police have not publicly disclosed a motive for the alleged poisoning. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department SCID for a discreet and thorough investigation. Police said the suspect will be charged to court after the investigation is completed. The authorities have urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities promptly.
