‘We won’t abandon you,’ VP Shettima tells families of fallen heroes

Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, has assured families of fallen military personnel that the federal government will continue to support and stand by them. He gave the assurance during an event held in honour of deceased members of the armed forces, where he paid tribute to their sacrifice and service to the nation.

Speaking at the gathering, Shettima emphasized that the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains committed to the welfare of families left behind by fallen heroes. He said the government recognizes the immense sacrifices made by members of the armed forces and other security agencies, noting that their bravery ensures the country’s unity and stability.

“We will not abandon you. The nation will continue to stand with you and support you in every possible way,” the vice president said.

Shettima described fallen soldiers as patriots who paid the ultimate price in the line of duty. He stressed that their courage and dedication would never be forgotten.

He added that the government is working to strengthen support systems, including welfare packages and other initiatives aimed at improving the living conditions of their families. According to the vice president, ongoing reforms under the current administration are designed to improve the welfare of both serving personnel and veterans.He noted that ensuring adequate compensation, education support for children, and access to healthcare remains a priority for the government. Shettima also called on Nigerians to honour the memory of fallen heroes by promoting unity, peace, and patriotism. He urged citizens to support the armed forces and other security agencies in their efforts to safeguard the nation.
